The Regionalization
Students Organization is inviting all interested medical students
nationwide to join the 1st ever Philippine Conference on Community
Health with the theme ”Crossing the Bridge Towards Health Equity” on
October 20-21 at the Buenafe Auditorium, University of the Philippines
Manila College of Medicine.
The basic concept of medical practice for most medical students conjures up images of hospital wards and cozy consultation rooms, but probably not of crowded community centers and sweat-drenched uniforms. The 1st Philippine Conference on Community Health aims to bridge this seemingly wide gap between the clinical and community-oriented perspectives of medicine.
Our Speakers
Listen to the country's forerunners in the medical field as they hold awe-inspiring and experience-led sessions. Former DOH undersecretary Dr. Mario Villaverde will be there to give updates on the current health system of the Philippines, while notable speakers such as College of Social Sciences and Philosophy Dean Dr. Michael Tan, Dr. Portia Marcelo from the National Telehealth Center, and Executive Director Dr. Elanor Jara of the Health Education Training and Services Council for Health Development, among others, will be speaking on socially relevant topics on the Philippine Health System. This will include broad-ranging matters on Medical Practice in the Community, Community-Based Health Programs and Research, Medical Communication, Health Financing, Policy Advocacy, and the Doctors to the Barrios Program of the DOH.
Model Congress
Share your insights on the most pressing issues in healthcare delivery during the Model Congress Activity, where participants will follow a policy making system used in the Philippines Congress to draft proposal resolutions for the relevant problems on community health in the country.
Socials Night
Meet fellow student doctors from all over the country during the highly anticipated Socials Night: Illustrado at the Ramon Magsaysay Convention Center, Roxas Boulevard, Manila. Listen to the musical performance of Unica and appreciate beauty at the Filipino tradition-inspired Fashion Show to cap the two-day health conference.
